This afternoon a priestess came to the palace to introduce the new slave.
What did he learn so far?

1. How to approach the Supreme Goddess?
Physical groveling is crawling as low as possible in the dirt at the feet of the Goddess, the slave’s all-powerful Owner. The new slave is already familiar with the levels of bowing. The mildest is the lowering of eyes and sometimes the neck bending forward (“Don’t make eye contact”).  Then the slight bow at the waist, the deep bow, then kneeling on one knee (in presence of other superior women: priestesses and concubines), then both, then crawling on all fours, and finally the kow-tow, with the face against the floor at or lower than the Goddess’s feet.
This point is where genuine groveling begins. A slave will press its entire body to the floor (or the dirt) and approach the Goddess like a worm. licking the edges of Her sandal-soles until or unless She lifts a foot to signal that Her slave is to lick the crud from the bottom of Her soles. The symbolism is obvious.

2. Save is not allowed to speak, unless ordered.
The verbal component of groveling is more complex, although it depends initially on permission, direct or implied, that the slave is allowed to speak to the Goddess at all. When he is allowed to speak of himself in the third person, and use roundabout constructions like “Would it please to allow Her Divine Majesty's slave to fetch Her flogger?” (the term “fetch” implying a dog-like status for the slave).
If this is to elaborate for Goddess Yanara's taste, She may direct otherwise; naturally, Her wish is law and must be obeyed without question.

3. Does het slave have a name?
Most of times   Goddess Yanara calls Her slave just “slave” . It happens that She calls him “worm” Again, the choice is for Goddess Yanara to make and Her slave to obey.
